TERRIE HANCOCK MANGAT

Quilts

April 12 – July 28, 2013

In addition to the work of Milton Glaser, Carl Solway Gallery highlights recent quilts by Terrie Hancock Mangat, an internationally known textile artist currently living and working in Taos, New Mexico. Since the 1970s, she has been noted for pioneering and popularizing quilts incorporating mixed media embellishments. Born and raised in Cold Spring, Kentucky, she graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in art and lived in Cincinnati for a number of years. She cites many influences on her work including Kentucky's rich quiltmaking heritage and travels to Africa and the American Southwest, where she now resides. In 1994, she and her sister, Becky Hancock, founded St. Theresa's Textile Trove, originally located in Over-the-Rhine and now located in the Pendleton Art Center.
