EMMETT WILLIAMS
Portrait Series
In 1992 the artist created a series of twelve portraits of artists with whom the artist has been associated. The works are related to his famous "Alphabet Symphony" of 1962. In these works, he is spelling the name of the subject by placing a relevant object underneath each letter.

The Maciunas portrait was selected for the poster for "In the Spirit of Fluxus" organized in 1993 by the Walker Art Center, which traveled to several venues including the Whitney Museum of American Art.
